About the RoleAs a Community Residential Support Worker, you’ll work directly with adults experiencing severe and prolonged mental illness in a residential and community setting. Your work will empower individuals to build daily living skills, maintain their housing, access community resources, and develop social and wellness goals. You’ll play a crucial role in helping clients lead stable, fulfilling lives while receiving the support they need.
What You’ll Be DoingSupporting clients with skills of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, medication supervision, and personal care
Teaching and modeling healthy routines and independent living skills
Helping clients connect with community resources (appointments, transportation, recreation, etc.)
Providing compassionate, practical counseling in moments of stress or crisis
Encouraging participation in social activities, wellness planning, and goal setting
Monitoring client safety, home cleanliness, and medication supplies
Participating in regular team meetings, staff supervision, and safety drills
Keeping accurate, timely documentation on client progress and services provided
Coordinating with case managers, families, healthcare providers, and other supports
Being flexible and adaptable, working at different program sites based on need
Helping maintain a clean, safe, and supportive home environment
Performing minor home maintenance duties (snow shoveling, lawn care, etc.)
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 2–3 years of experience in community-based mental health work preferred
MHRT-I certification, or willingness to obtain within 12 months (we’ll help you!)
Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping others
Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team
Patience, maturity, and a non-judgmental, professional demeanor
Valid Maine driver’s license with reliable transportation
Comfortable with flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Able to lift up to 35 lbs, climb stairs, and respond to home emergencies as needed
Starting at $23.10/hr
$23.70/hr with MHRT-I certification
