Job Description

Our client is one of Atlantas top commercial contractors. They have also been named Best Places to work for their construction company category. We are seeking an experienced, impactful Controller to lead the accounting & finance team. This role will report directly to the CEO and the company board.

The ideal candidate

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controller for a small to medium size business, construction industry experience preferred, and including percentage of completion accounting (ASC 606 revenue recognition)
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
  • CPA is highly desirable, bonus points for CCIFP
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Lead with empathy, authenticity and integrity
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to develop team members skills and careers
  • Inspire confidence and accountability through clear, decisive leadership
  • Experience with ERPs and payroll software

Responsibilities

  • Treasury management and forecasting
  • 401(k) management and liaison with investment advisor
  • Liaison with external CPA firm for annual review and tax preparation, including management of estimated tax payments
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Prepare financials and other reports for shareholders and leadership team
  • Evaluate, improve and implement internal controls and accounting processes to mitigate risk and create efficiencies
  • Create budget for SG&A expenses and maintain full company budget
  • Collaborate with operations on forecasting and draft proforma financials
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely receipts and payments to trade partners
  • Oversee the payroll function, including managing payroll software and job costing in the ERP and enhance use and functionality of system and administer licenses
  • Manage property & casualty insurance and benefit renewals
  • Annual business licenses and certifications
  • Negotiate software renewal contracts
  • Manage client compliance requirements
  • Oversee financial reviews of subcontractor prequalifications
  • Collaborate with marketing and operations for cross functional deliverables

Compensation: $180,000 - $240,000
