The Data Scientist I is responsible for entering, cleaning and conducting basic data manipulation and analysis for the government. Designed to maximize the management, integrity, and utilization of data of personnel with priority on improving short and long-term wellbeing of warriors and their families.

HOW A DATA SCIENTIST I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Conducts basic data analytics, data manipulation, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis, and uses scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products, enabling more informed analytic decisions.
  • Enter and analyze data within government systems.
  • Maintain dashboards to automate data analysis, identifying, interpreting, and presenting trends, designed to record program related programmatic data.
  • Assist the program staff with survey design. Create, analyze, and report survey data.
  • Provide consultation and assistance to supported units and program staff to identify opportunities and methods for capturing data related to program initiatives .
  • Work in consultation with program staff and the Government's biostatistician.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of program evaluation, research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Be able to use statistics/modeling tools and data visualization techniques to provide an accessible way to see and understand trends, outliers, and patterns in data to produce reports and presentations that accurately convey data trends supporting the mission.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Proficient with the suite of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Access.
  • Basic proficiency with commonly used statistical software applications such as SPSS, SAS, Python, and R-Shiny.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and shall be highly detail oriented and organized.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency through work or publication history.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills in Data visualization/development (Power BI, Tableau), and Microsoft Power Apps.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in quantitative science, social science or related discipline.

LOCATION: Various CONUS SITES

CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain and maintain Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.

This is a contingent posting, expected to start in 2026.

The likely salary range for this position is $71,445 - $96,661. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
