PAY RANGE: ANNUAL SALARY $85K TO $90K

PURPOSE:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced candidate to oversee and manage daily operations on a large strawberry farm. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in farming practices, leadership skills, and a passion for agriculture.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manage all farm operations, irrigation, fertility, and pest control.
• Ensure the operation is properly allocating resources and managing labor effectively.
• Provide leadership and direction for ranch supervisors and personnel.
• Maintain constant communication with Agronomists, Ranch Supervisors, and other staff to develop and implement sound integrated Pest and Farm Management practices.
• Ability to inspect fields, analyze problems, and review recommendations regarding the prevention and control of all types of agricultural pests and diseases as well as fertility.
• Participation in planning and managing the budget and responsible for farm level cost optimization.
• Analyze and act on management information dashboards.
• Stay informed of new and emerging information and technology related to strawberry production.
• Participate in field trials related to pest control, fertility, production methods and new varieties.
• Keep and maintain records as required.
• Observe, assist, and advise pesticide applicators in proper calibration and use of spray equipment.
• Work with governmental agencies with respect to compliance and regulations.
• Maintain any relevant professional licensing by completing required continuing education hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work on uneven terrain both on foot and near equipment. Ability to get on and off various stationary and moving equipment. Ability to continuously work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to inspect product and equipment at ground level. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness or related field is required.
• 3-5 years of field experience preferred.
• California Agricultural Pest Control Adviser License preferred.
• Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of agricultural pest control and production practices required.
• Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Strong verbal and analytical skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Travel may be required depending on business needs, particularly seasonal travel.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.

• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
