Position: Gas Service Technician D

Organization: Gas Operations

Department: Gas Meter Service

Starting Rate of Pay: $35.92

Location: Easthampton, MA

**Union Represented Position**

DEFINITION:

Performs work consistent with training provided and/or skills attained or held. Install, set, remove, transfer, turn on and turn off meters; diagnose problems, replace parts, make adjustments and use independent judgment when necessary. Locate and repair or report gas leaks; assist in and/or perform all duties within job series; execute all forms and reports as required and perform other similar or related duties. Use of Company approved gauges and leak detection equipment to test service and house lines. Grade and pre-mark leaks; Complete any job assessment form required. Upon approval from the appropriate governing body, may be permitted to repair leaks on jurisdictional pipe and adjust, repair or replace domestic regulators. 

May be assigned other work in accordance with the Labor Agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have two years of related mechanical experience, gas utility experience preferred.
• Pass mechanical comprehension test.
• Pass DOT Drug Screen if not presently in a covered position.
• Possess and retain an unrestricted MA vehicle operator’s license.
• Be in good physical condition.
• Be able to work at heights.
• Be regular in attendance.
• Have a good safety record.
• Have the ability to perform assignments safely.
• Have the ability to keep required records.
• Be adept with figures, accurate in handling funds and have the ability to keep required records satisfactorily.
• Must be willing and able to accept shift, on-call, emergency response, emergency assignments, and work overtime.

SCHEDULE:

Successful candidate will be required to bid a shift by bargaining unit seniority date. This schedule is subject to change for vacations, extended illnesses and/or in accordance with the Labor Agreement.

WAGE PROGRESSION:

Eligible for automatic increases to maximum job rate in accordance with the Labor Agreement.

**Successful applicant must live within 45 minutes of the Easthampton Area Work Center**
