The Senior IT Project Manager, Epic, leads and coordinates complex IT and Epic-related projects to ensure alignment with business goals, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication. They provide leadership to cross-functional teams, mentor junior members, and drive adoption of project management best practices. The role requires extensive project management experience, strong strategic and relationship management skills, and familiarity with Agile and Epic systems.

Position Overview

The Senior IT Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of high-complexity corporate projects and larger initiatives to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. This position ensures that project goals are aligned with business objectives and provides leadership and support to Epic project teams, facilitating successful planning, execution, and delivery of Epic-related initiatives.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of large-scale projects that involve complex technical solutions and strategic business deliverables.
  • Lead project team to accomplish project goals on projects of high complexity.
  • Responsible for stakeholder management and influence of senior level managers in the business.
  • Manage the resolution of issues and communicate and translate technical concepts.
  • Act as a problem solver to drive decisions.
  • Consult with management, and review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
  • Prepare status reports and modify schedules and plans, as needed.
  • Keep management, team, and business areas informed of project status and related issues.
  • Coordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Monitor project results against specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Improve process and project management practices to advance best practices.
  • Recommend methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Follow established project management practices, management of scope, requirements, issues, and risks.
  • Create and manage the project schedule and utilize the schedule to communicate and manage the work.
  • Manage project budget.
  • Ensure that all required project management deliverables are created and accurate.
  • Prepare project for governance gate approvals.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle.
  • Collaborate with other system process owners within business functions to ensure corporate alignment with the system and other processes.
  • Plan team resource needs, allocate, supervise, and review work.
  • Collaborate with peers to manage project interdependencies.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure that the project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Engage internal business resources to understand business objectives and to translate into delivery plans.
  • Understand how leveraged applications provide a competitive advantage.
  • Develop and gain agreement with stakeholders on project plans and budgets.
  • Ability to conceptualize, document, and present creative solutions to senior management.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies.
  • Apply advanced understanding of business and technical process.
  • Apply advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Apply strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8+ years of experience working in a project management capacity.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of project management concepts and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking, with strong abilities in relationship management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic project experience and/or Epic certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience managing software development projects using Agile methodology.
  • Possession of PMI Project Management certification.
  • Possession of Agile certification(s).

Salary Range:

$89,000.00 - $151,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
