Summary:

The position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Dump Trucks/Tractor Trailers/Snow Removal Equipment along with Heavy and Small Equipment for demolitions. Will assist other departments, both within the Division of Public Works and within the Oneida Nation with snow removal, trucking of various materials as requested or required, maintenance of roadway shoulders and demolition of structures. Work is primarily in outside weather conditions. Incumbent will participate in a random drug testing/screening according to the Federal and Tribal policies.

Responsibilities:

* Operate and comply with all Department of Transportation, state, local, and Oneida Nation’s rules and regulations in the operation of all trucks, dump trucks, and snow removal vehicles.

  • a. Perform all tasks required for snow and ice removal operating trucks, dump truck, and snow removal vehicles for the Oneida Nation’s parking lots, One Stops, Casino, and Roads.
  • b. Perform all of the Oneida Nation’s demolitions as required or requested (includes planning, scheduling, demolition debris removal and site cleanup).
  • c. Haul material for various departments within the Division of Public Works and other departments within the Oneida Nation. Clean and wash trucks and equipment on a weekly basis.
  • d. Operate fleet vehicles, dump trucks, and other equipment for maintenance of roadways, to include cold patching, shoulder maintenance, signage near roads and Oneida Nation parking lots (such as street signs, no parking, handicapped).
  • e. Operate Heavy Equipment to include: front end loader, excavators, backhoes, high hoe, fork lift, skid steer, tractors, tool cat, and other equipment as required or requested. This includes all preventative maintenance and cleaning.
  • f. Operate Oneida Nation’s Vehicles, to include all fleet vehicles. Level gravel and dirt piles using heavy equipment.

* Assist various departments within the Oneida Nation with hauling of heavy equipment.

* Use hand tools necessary to do all routine preventative maintenance to include: pre and post inspections, checking batteries, lights, engine fluids, greasing of equipment, and other related equipment care procedures.
* Performs daily inspections (pre and post), routine maintenance, and minor repair work on all Trucks, Dump Trucks, and Snow and Ice Removal vehicles. a. Report all defective and dangerous equipment or conditions to supervisors.
* Keep accurate daily logs and records of mileage and work completed, such as: material picked up and delivered, name and address of delivery, all maintenance completed, inspection reports as required by the Department of Transportation, state, local, and the Oneida Nation.
* Assist with Special Events within the Oneida Nation.
* Contribute to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.

Skills:

Essential:
* Ability to work with little or no supervision
* Knowledge and ability to operate dump trucks with or without snow removal attachments
* Knowledge and ability to operate Heavy Equipment, to include Front End Loaders, Excavators, Backhoes, High Hoe, Fork Lift, Snowplow, Skid Steer, Tractors, Tool Cat, and Truck with and without trailers
* Knowledge and ability to do preventative maintenance and cleaning on all equipment used to preform duties and responsibilities
* Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures required when operating equipment and performing duties

Experience:

Essential:
* Two (2) years’ experience operating heavy equipment or dump trucks and semi-tractor with trailer

Nonessential:
* Three to five (3-5) years’ of experience driving semi-tractor with trailer.

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
